Your Questions
What is the difference between a registrar and a celebrant?
Celebrant A celebrant will officiate your wedding and can ensure that you have full control over the content of your ceremony. Sometimes, couples can forget about the ceremony because it is the dull legal part, but actually you can have your wedding wherever and whenever you want - and have a fantastic ceremony that is completely tailored to you and your partner. For example we might be able to include rituals and moments in your vows when you can reflect on those special moments you have shared as well as your plans for the future. You will have time to plan details with your celebrant and ensure that your ceremony is as memorable as the party!
Registrar Your ceremony will last for the statutory amount of time, usually around 20 minutes, and you will speak prescribed vows. Some registrars allow you to choose out of two or three options for your vows but the ceremony wording is usually the same for every couple who marries. You are unlikely to meet your registrar until five or ten minutes before the ceremony begins, so don't have the opportunity to get to know them personally.
Can you legally marry us?
If you choose a celebrant led wedding, you will still need to complete the legal paperwork in the register office this option costs about £60. You can save your vows and rings for your actual wedding - I can liken it to registering the birth of a baby and then having the naming ceremony afterwards.
How does it work?
Once we are in touch, we will have a chat and make sure that we click! This might be in person, on zoom or on the phone. If we all decide to go ahead then we arrange an in person meeting to discuss possible ways of approaching your ceremony. Once we have met, then you can officially 'book' me and at that point will give me a non refundable deposit to confirm the date. The rest will be paid in instalments at pre-arranged dates in the run up to your wedding, naming or vow renewal.
